This event has become the largest Taiwanese-American festival in the United States, drawing tens of thousands of attendees annually to the heart of New York City for a cultural feast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Taiwanese American Heritage Week was established by the U.S. Congress in 1999 to highlight the contributions of Taiwanese Americans to the United States. Originally scheduled for a week starting on Mother&#8217;s Day in May, it coincides with Asian American Heritage Month, leading Taiwanese-American communities nationwide to hold various activities during May to celebrate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2002, &#8220;Passport to Taiwan&#8221; has gained prominence in New York City, attracting hundreds of thousands of attendees, making it the largest Taiwanese-American event in the U.S. The organizers have long been dedicated to showcasing Taiwan&#8217;s diversity to international visitors and fostering a deeper understanding of Taiwan and its Taiwanese-American community among New Yorkers and tourists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The New York City Council designated the week of the event as Taiwanese-American Heritage Week in 2003, and in 2009, Mayor Bloomberg declared May 24th as Passport to Taiwan Day in New York City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Annual NYC festival celebrating Taiwanese culture, founded 2002, now largest Taiwanese-American event in the United States.<\/p>","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":71,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_coblocks_attr":"","_coblocks_dimensions":"","_coblocks_responsive_height":"","_coblocks_accordion_ie_support":"","om_disable_all_campaigns":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[8],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-62","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-2024-06"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.8 -
